Valerie offers CranioSacral therapy, including intraoral work, specifically targeting conditions within the mouth. This technique is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing general mouth pain and Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD/TMJ) conditions.

Temporomandibular disorders encompass a spectrum of more than 30 conditions causing discomfort and dysfunction in the jaw joint and associated muscles. It’s important to note that “TMJ” refers solely to the temporomandibular joint itself, while “TMDs” refers to the broader range of disorders affecting this area. Each person has two TMJs, one on each side of the jaw, which can be located by gently placing fingers in front of the ears and opening the mouth.

TMDs can be classified into three main categories:

  • Disorders affecting the joints, including disc disorders.
  • Disorders affecting the muscles used for chewing (masticatory muscles).
  • Headaches associated with TMDs.

IntraOral Mouthwork is also one of the steps in SomatoEmotional Release®. The idea is that by releasing this region you are “Opening the Area of Expression”. This gives the body better opportunity when moving into the “dialoguing” portion of SomatoEmotional Release.
