Where do I meet Valerie for my massage?
You may meet Valerie in Suite 104 inside Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club or in the front lobby. If Valerie’s door is closed, please do not knock (she may currently be in session), but return to the comfort of the lobby and she will meet you at the time of your appointment.
How do I book a massage or buy a gift certificate?
Physical Gift Certificates are available for purchase directly from Valerie. You can purchase these in person from Valerie or reach out to her by text/call/email. She can then process your credit card by phone or send you an invoice to pay online. Once payment is received she will message you when she has filled out the gift certificate and left it at the front desk at Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club for pick up during Valerie Carsey, LLC’s business hours.
E-gift certificates available online here! There are two ways to buy a gift certificate online:
1. You can purchase the e-gift certificate for yourself and then click “gift” option on the URL to transfer it to someone else when you are ready to give it to them.
2. Buy the certificate for someone else by going to “Book Now” through the booking link, click “This a gift for someone else”, enter their full name, phone number and a message then click next and follow the prompts to payment. Once the purchase goes through this will generate a text to the recipient with the e-gift certificate code.
3. For a 90 minute and 120 minute massage e-gift certificate, purchase an additional 30 or 60 minutes e-gift certificates then book two consecutive appointments online when ready.

How do I use my e-gift certificate or account credit?
- During the appointment booking process, you will need to enter a card on file to proceed.
- On the next screen, you will be asked about gratuity. Your available e-gift certificate or account credit will be displayed at the bottom left of this screen. If the e-gift certificate or account credit covers the full cost of the session, your credit card will not be charged. If it does not cover the full cost, your credit card will be charged the remaining balance of the deposit.

Is Valerie Carsey LLC part of Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club?
No. Valerie Carsey LLC is a separate business operating as an independent contractor within Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club.
Are there any special benefits for Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club members?
Yes! Feel free to swing by and visit Valerie in her room when she is available for a free 10-15 minute demo massage! Members also receive a discount on massage services.
Why is it not working when I try to set up an account for my partner/family member/friend with my phone number and it is not working?
My system is set up to identify people by phone number or email address, so duplicate phone numbers and email addresses result in an error in my system. If the information must be duplicated, please reach out to Valerie via text, email or phone and she will try and assist you with the setup.
How much hands on time do I get in an hour?
A 60 minute massage includes time to do the initial intake, time to get on the table and 5 minutes to get off the table. The remainder of the time is allocated for hands on time, which is generally 50 minutes.
Non-Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club Members, please plan to arrive 5 minutes early and bring your ID, to fill out your day pass paperwork at the reception desk.
Is there a referral bonus?
Yes! For every person who says you referred them you get a $10 gift certificate good for a year.
Do you work on minors?
Under the age of 12 Valerie recommends seeking a pediatric massage therapist. 12-15 years of age an adult is required in the room during the entire session. 16-18 years of age, an adult is not required to be in the room during the massage but paperwork does need to be signed by a parent or guardian.

Do you take insurance?
Valerie is not currently contracted with any insurance providers. Valerie is happy to provide any required documentation for you if you opt to file a reimbursement claim yourself with your insurance provider. For more information check out the Medical Massage page.
Do you accept gratuity (tips)?
Valerie values your comfort and satisfaction during your session. While she sets her own prices, she understands that some clients prefer to show appreciation through gratuities. Therefore, she does accept tips and will inquire at the end of the session if you would like to include gratuity when paying by card. Please feel free to tip according to your discretion; Valerie does not expect gratuities and will not be offended if you choose not to tip.
My discount does not show up when I make my appointment.
Any available discount that is not automatically applied will be applied at checkout. Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club members may be asked to show proof of membership to receive your discount at time of checkout.
Do you work with clients with active cancer?
Yes! Valerie has completed training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage regarding Oncology. However, there may still be instances where Valerie will postpone treatment until receiving clearance from your Oncology Team. Learn more about Oncology Care here.
Do you work with clients who are post-operative?
Yes! Valerie has completed training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage regarding post-operative inflammation. She is happy to see you as soon as you are able to come in. However, there may still be instances where Valerie will postpone treatment until receiving clearance from your Post-Operative Team. Learn more about Post-Operative Care here.
I have a cold. Can I still come in for my massage?
Massage can exasperate sickness symptoms. Massage is not appropriate treatment for infectious and contagious conditions. If you show up for your massage with an illness or contagious condition your massage will be canceled and your deposit refunded.
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments cancelled before 24 hours before their appointment shall receive a refund on your deposit. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours of your appointment forfeit your right to a refund on your deposit except for illnesses, contagious conditions or inclement weather.
I felt great when I left the massage but the next day I feel sore. Is this normal?
Common side effects of bodywork include inflammation, soreness and occasionally light bruising. If you are experiencing adverse effects worse than these please reach out to Valerie to discuss the matter. Otherwise, Valerie recommends extra water 24-48 hours after a session and to ice any sore muscles.
Do you teach infant massage to parents?
Not at this point. Valerie recommends checking out the Family Massage Education Center for online classes.
Do you have a business card or can you print me a receipt?
Valerie strives to be as paperless as possible for better environmental practices. For this reason she does not print receipts or carry business cards. However, if you do require a paper copy of a receipt, please inform Valerie and she will mail you a copy.
Why does Valerie wear a mask when she works?
Especially since Valerie often works close to your face, for your protection and hers, as an extra barrier against potential illness, Valerie wears a mask during her sessions.
What are Valerie’s sanitation policies?
Valerie strives for the highest quality in sanitization practices. Valerie wipes down all touch points in the room after every massage with a sanitization wipe. She changes her blankets and sheets between each client and washes all linens, blankets and towels in hot water with detergent and OxiClean.
