Lavender
Lavender’s (Lavendula angustifolia) floral scent is well known for its balancing, calming and soothing properties. Other potential properties are antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. For these reasons, lavender is frequently used in skin care. When properly diluted, lavender is a safe pure essential oil for pregnant women and children.
Ylang Ylang
Ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) has a sweet luxurious perfume. This oil can have a calming effect on the nervous system. This is another ill that is commonly found in perfumes and cosmetics and is good for both dry and oily skin. Other fun potential properties include antidepressant and aphrodisiac.
Patchouli
Patchouli’s (Pogostemon patchouli) earthy scent is a love or leave it smell. It can have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, so it is often used in skin care. For those that love it, they may report an easing of stress related conditions.
Mandarin
Mandarin (Citrus nobilis) is a “joyful” citrusy scent, having the potential property of being an anti-depressant. Mandarin is sometimes used to aid in digestion. Diluted properly mandarin is safe for use for pregnant people and children. Note: Mandarin contains photosensitive properties and is not recommended to be out in the sun after using this blend.
Rosemary and Mint
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) and Spearmint (Mentha specata) will leave you feeling tingly as it potentially stimulates your nervous and circulatory systems. Rosemary and Mint are great for those tired and sore muscles. Other potential properties of Rosemary include being antiseptic, analgesic and anti-viral. Other potential properties of Mint include anti-nausea, decongestant and antiseptic.
Lemon and Eucalyptus
A blend of Lemon (Citrus limonum) and Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata) is a citrusy and woodsy scent that will be felt in your chest. Lemon has antibacterial and antiseptic properties and like all citrus oils has potential properties to aid in digestion. Eucalyptus has potential anti inflammatory, antiseptic, antibiotic, diuretic, analgesic and deodorizing properties. Eucalyptus is also a famous home remedy for decongestion. Note: Lemon contains photosensitive properties and it is not recommended to be out in the sun after using this blend.
Rose and Gardenia
Rose (Rose otto) and Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides) is a warm, floral scent. This blend is good for situations that are tugging on the heart strings, having the potential property of being an anti-depressant. Both oils have been used for centuries in the perfume industry, both considered aphrodisiacs and good for the reproductive system.
Bergemot, Neroli and Ginger
A blend of Bergemot (Citrus bergamia), Neroli (Citrus aurantium) and Ginger (Zingiber officinalis) will leave you feeling warm. This grounding blend has notes of citrus and spice commonly found in colognes. This blend is great if you are feeling depressed or anxious. Bergemot and Neroli have a great potential property of being antiseptic. Neroli also has potential properties of being antispasmodic, aphrodisiac and aiding rejuvination. Ginger has potential properties of being anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and anti-nausea. *Note. Neroli and Bergemot contain photosensitive properties and it is not recommended to be out in the sun after using this blend.
Rose Geranium, Grapefruit and Lavender
Rose Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens), Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) and Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia) is a great floral blend that may help with hormonal imbalance. This was one of Valerie’s favorite blends to use during the menstruating time of the month. This blend is also great for skin care with all oils containing potential properties of being antiseptic and good for fluid retention and aiding the lymphatic system. Valerie recommends this blend as an addition to manual lymphatic drainage massage work. This blend can be good for people with both oil and/or dry skin.
