Gamina, Series Tink, Edition 42,
Was a tiny mechanical fearie in a rose pink hue.
She lived in a quiet corner in Edam’s city called Toye.
And spent most here days trying hard to spread joy.
However, Gamina was not satisfied in a life so small.
She craved a bigger life, outside of Toye’s wall.
So she gathered her brothers and sisters all near,
And announced that she planned to travel the rest of the year.
She needed no packs,
And required no snacks.
She simply bid her family a hopeful goodbye.
And was off on her adventure as she started to fly.
And even though she was one of Eram’s small mechanical things,
She flew at great speed by the beat of her mechanical wings.
She exited her world underground to experience air currents from the wind.
This threw her off balance and she face planted into a flower stem.
The brave little faerie looked up and saw the sun and the sky for the first time.
She squinted her eyes and rubbed off some grime.
She was in the city of Sanctuary, where artificially and organically intelligent people both lived in peace.
She had never seen an organic person, only people who leaked grease.
Though, she brushed it off, since some AI and some OI look quite the same.
There were just so many of them to discover who had the OI or AI claim.
Gamina set herself down to wind up her wind,
And slowly discover all she could find.
She found it a challenge to talk to these people so large.
Her small tinkling voice failed to take charge.
So she buzzed through the grass and the trees very tall,
When she came across another flying lady so small.
They both took pause to check the other out.
“You’re like a golden star,” the other woman gave a shout.
“And your like a firefly dressed in flower petals and leaves,”
Gamina marveled at the other woman’s flower petal dress and grassy sleeves.
“I’m Topple of the Spring faeries. Who are you?”
“I’m Gamina, Series Tink, Edition 42.”
“Oh! You’re an AI Faerie? I never knew there were any of those.
“Can you do magic, like we do?” Topple asked scrunching her nose.
“What’s magic?” Gamina asked feeling very interested.
Topple blew on a flower bud which then blossomed into a flower in its stead.
“Woah!” Gamina shouted with her eyes very wide.
“We don’t do any of that in Toye, on the inside.”
Topple giggled, took Gamina’s hand and called out, “Come with me.”
And the two faeries flew to a nearby Willow Tree.
And out and around the tree the Spring faeries rushed about doing their work.
“This is my home,” Topple said with a perk.
Where in Toye, everything was metal and gleamed with the light,
Here in Sanctuary, everything was earth, and grass, and trees, with a day and a night.
The Spring faeries pushed and pulled and did cartwheels and air somersaults.
They were just as much playing as they were working as they went about.
In Toye, Gamina’s job was to make people smile and feel good.
Here, in Sanctuary, Topple talked about her job was to make buds bloom in the wood.
“I wish we could do magic like you all can,” Gamina said with a wistful sigh.
“Then we shall see the Wish Grantor. We’re in luck, because I know he is near by.”
Topple took Gamina’s hand and flew her west.
Into a quiet part of the wood, that most others just let rest.
But Topple was on a mission to help her new friend,
“So, she bravely knocked on the door of the known vagabond.”
A short, stout older man with his hair all a mess,
Opened the door with a smile as he simply said, “Yes?”
Now Topple had met Mr. Vale several times before.
She liked to take tea with him when she flew near his door.
“Hello Topple. Who is your golden friend?
“Do please introduce us, and do please come in.”
He scuttled to his stovetop and put some water on.
“I am pleased to see you. Tea will be ready before long.”
“Oh thank you Mr. Vale, but today I have a request.
“This is Gamina, she’s an AI faerie, and wants to do magic like the Spring faeries possess.”
Mr. Vale smiled. “I see, you come with a wish.”
He sat thoughtfully then said, “Yes, I believe I can grant this,
“But one must come into his magic, so you will have to be patient and wait
“To see how life will unfold as your fate.
“Stay honest and true,
“And your magic will come to you.”
Gamina was filled with the excitement of what will one day come.
Topple smiled at her friend, knowing she will have to step to the beat of her own drum.
The conversation lapsed into descriptions of Edam and how things have changed or stayed the same.
Then the ladies left, feeling glad they had came.
Gamina and Topple flew playing chase, straight back to the Willow tree.
Where they caught up with some faeries playing hide and go seek the golden key.
But no round ever made it to the end,
They always got too distracted quibbling or playing tag over the main branch’s bend.
Then they all ate acorns and honey in a feast,
While Gamina drank oil, until the sun rose in the east.
And Gamina stayed with the faeries through the remainder of Spring,
Where she studied their magic and the life that they bring.
So, Gamina continued her trip, flying through the mountain cities and tunnels through Foy,
Since she discovered the heat of Foy in the Summer was more sweltering then the workshops in Toye.
She travelled along the rivers of Eram, where she met an Autumn faerie.
This faerie was tall and graceful with great wings, long red hair and soft eyes the were staring.
While the Spring faeries were childish, playful and small like fireflies.
The Autumn faeries were large, regal and lived much longer lives.
And though the large people normally could not hear Gamina speak,
The Autumn faeries had magic that allowed them to hear the meek.
Gamina found herself a guest of the Autumn faery, Joanna Sol.
Joanna bent light rays through branches and grass blades, where there was a hole.
Gamina talked about Mr. vale and how her magic would one day come.
In the meanwhile, Gamina tried not to worry and mostly to have fun.
Gamina stayed with Joanna all the Autumn through.
And when they bed to slumber. Gamina once again, flew.
She came to Ara, the land of air,
Where she met the local Winter faeries there.
The Winter faeries were crystalline, very serious and also tall.
Gamina guested with Aurora Blue, the youngest of them all.
Aurora showed Gamina how to form icicles on a window sill,
And how the important part to her magic was keeping very still.
Gamina did not stay the whole winter, because the frost made her gears stick.
So she moved onto Vaser, where she just flew over the ocean and through the fog that was thick.
She arrived back at Edam where she was glad to go home,
And talk of her adventure and the places she had roamed.
And several more years went by while Gamina never forgot Mr. Vale’s promise to her.
Her magic would one day come, of this she was still sure.
But one day, when a toaster AI broke a coil,
Gamina’s small metal hands lit up like hot tin foil,
And she was able to magically weld the AI back together again,
Thus, being the first AI faerie to start their new magical trend.
