The Toth family lived in the city of Loll,

Where the houses were always clean and the front lawns kind of dull.

Martin Toth was a good husband who worked his Monday through Friday of nine to five.

Molly Toth was a good wife who stayed home to cook, clean and take care of their son, Pauley who was about to leap off the couch in a swan dive.

Pauley was “this many” as he would hold up three fingers with a smile.

He liked checkered shirts and to play fire engine games for a long while.

He would hold out his arms in front as though he were taking a wheel,

Then shout, “weeoweeoweeo” with an enthusiastic little squeal.

He would pretend Mommy was a burning house, as it goes.

So he would hold his arm straight while shouting, “Shhhhhhhhh”, putting the fire out with a hose.

And like all the little boys his age he heard warnings of what to do and what not,

But Pauley liked to not listen and do things his way as he went about.

And so it happened, on a Wednesday, with his little boy feet,

He ignored all Molly’s warnings and ran into the street.

And at that moment, the sky turned grey and lightening could be seen to the west.

And out of the clouds was an oversized hyena in a red romper, brandishing a samurai sword called Bestos.

Bestos had claim

To all the naughty children

Who ran into and through the streets.

He landed and stood upright on hind legs as he swooped up Pauley who was screaming and refusing defeat.

Molly’s flowered dress bounced as she flailed her skinny arms in the air,

Frantically trying to reach a boy no longer there.

Bestos barred his teeth at Molly and with a furrowed brow growled, “This child is now mine.”

And as Bestos and Pauley flew off into space, they left a distraught mommy behind.
