Orchard Paul awoke to his mattress being replaced by a pile of wriggling worms.
His sister, Pomegranate, stood off to the side, laughing on her own terms.
Orchard hollered out and squirmed as he tried to climb off the stack.
“It’s okay! It’s okay! Look, they are gummy worms, Pomegranate continued to laugh!
“Happy Hallows Month!” she continued on with a smile from ear to ear.
Orchard looked at her slyly (putting a worm in his mouth) and simply said, “Come here!”
“You have to catch me first!” and Pomegranate ran out of her brother’s room,
Straight into their mother, shaking her head at the raucous of the two.
Pomegranate smiled at the tall, thin woman with stringy orange hair.
“Happy Hallows Month!” Pomegranate exclaimed to her there!
“Happy Hallows Month,” Mrs. Paul replied to her girl.
“I see the Wish Grantor has visited our family, here.”
And Mrs. Paul remembered back to the time she left gelatin in her sister’s shoes.
No one wanted to eat the tasty treat after her sister stuck her toes through.
The Paul children wandered over to school, which today looked like a Gingerbread House.
“Hooray!” Pomegranate shouted as she took a bite for herself.
The other kids were piling in, talking about what the Wish Grantor had granted them.
The Solar twins, each had bedrooms filled with cold, wet, gummy Penguins,
And Jolie Abernackie, had a squirrel scurry under her bed and turn to chocolate.
Peter Crabshaw had a jelly raccoon that was so fast he couldn’t get to it.
In Juju, Hallows month is the time of candy pumpkins and chocolate black cats.
It is the time of spooky stories, witches and gummy flying bats.
Mr. Vale, the Wish Grantor gave children world wide tricks and treats,
And each village was excited for his pranks and his sweets.
